Thank God It's Sunday!
“Thank God It’s Sunday!” - The Gospel of Customer Service is a Customer Service book by Bernard Smalls, available at http://www.amazon.com/
We will continue in this blog with sharing a portion of the book. Please enjoy!
“A message on customer service may seem like a strange title for a Sunday morning service, but remember the good news is not just for Sunday. I preach a positive theology because people don’t need to hear how bad they are. They need to hear how good God is. They need to hear good news. A part of that good news is financial prosperity and greatness for those who learn how to serve others with excellence.” Many people don’t understand the importance of the practical issue of service. I believe that excellent service is directly linked to the financial prosperity of an organization or a business. Financial prosperity in an organization is in direct proportion to how it takes care of customers, partners, members and markets. As my good friend, Ken Blanchard, puts it,
‘Profit is the applause we get for taking care of our customers.’
“God gives us the power to create wealth. Even Socrates said,
“Wealth does not bring goodness, but goodness brings wealth and every other blessing, both to the individual and the state.”
- Socrates
Wealth can be enjoyed by understanding this practical and spiritual message of making a 100% commitment to the simple; yet profound, concept of excellent customer service!”
The three secrets revealed in The gospel of customer service are:
1) A Meaningful Service Vision 2) Customer Oriented People 3) Customer Friendly Systems
THANK GOD IT'S NORDSTROM
The minister continued, “Nordstrom became a favorite shopping spot while I lived in the Northwest. At one time, for approximately five years straight, I visited Nordstrom at least once a week to buy a shirt, a tie or just to get a fresh hot cup of Seattle’s Best Coffee. John W. Nordstrom started his business in the early 1900’s with a vision of outstanding customer service that has continued to grow for more than a century.”
The minister went on to say, “I was reading a book recently that explained the gospel according to Nordstrom by the following phrase, This is what we are here for: to serve and be kind!”
“Reportedly, one delighted customer went so far as to stipulate in her will that her ashes be scattered at Nordstrom.” “That way,” she said, “I am certain my children will visit me often.” The minister told the congregation that the challenge to be of service or to be extraordinarily kind brings out the best in everybody!
“In my estimation, Nordstrom is certainly a great customer service organization.
How many of you have shopped at Nordstrom?” Many hands went up. Several people leaned over to the person seated next to them and whispered the impact Nordstrom had on them. “Nordstrom is committed to 100% guaranteed customer satisfaction.”
"Bernard is an excellent speaker with great content that will inspire any audience. Bernard is a real winner."
- Dr. Ken Blanchard -Co-author of "The One Minute Manager
